Inclusivity and Sustainability

Over the years, APA has made efforts to open participation in its events to all interested individuals.

Registration for the 2025 congress follows different categories with a sliding scale of prices, ensuring that participants with diverse profiles, such as students, scholarship holders, or associates, can find options suited to their financial situations, thus encouraging more inclusive and diverse participation.

As with previous congresses, we aim to engage with the city hosting our event, ensuring that anthropology extends beyond the academic context and into public spaces in Viana do Castelo.

Regarding inclusivity, APA intends not only to maintain certain practices—such as offering low-cost accommodation options, discount agreements with public transport companies, and the possibility of having lunch at the university cantine—but also to introduce new measures to support equal participation: we are working to provide childcare services during the congress days and the IPVC will offer transportation for people with reduced mobility.

If you have any special needs, please do not hesitate to contact the congress secretariat.

In terms of sustainability, we remain committed to encouraging the use of public transportation and offering bicycles free of charge during the congress days. We promote the use of reusable bottles and encourage the consumption of tap water, ensure that there is a remote participation option for the congress, work as much as possible with local suppliers, products, and services, and encourage the reuse of lanyards and congress badges, as well as other merchandising materials.

We will soon announce more details about each of these measures.
